Choosing a digital marketing agency in the UAE comes down to seven checks: a clear goal, honest reporting, real knowledge of the UAE market, tracking and account ownership, knowing who does the work, a valid trade licence, and fair contract terms. This checklist walks through each one so you can compare agencies with confidence.
1. Start with your goal, not their service list
Before you speak to anyone, write down what success looks like in numbers you already track: enquiries per month, cost per lead, online orders, or booked appointments. A good agency will ask about these in the first conversation. If the discussion jumps straight to packages and posting frequency, that tells you how they will measure their own work.
2. Ask how they report results
Ask to see a sample report with client names removed. Look for leads, calls, form submissions, sales and cost per result. Reach, impressions and follower counts can support the story, but they should never be the headline. If an agency cannot show you how a lead is traced back to the campaign that produced it, you will struggle to judge whether your budget is working.
3. Check they understand the UAE market
The UAE audience is multilingual and multicultural, buying behaviour shifts around Ramadan, the summer months and major shopping events, and WhatsApp is often the preferred first point of contact. Ask how they would adapt targeting, language and timing for your customers. Specific answers are a good sign. Generic ones are not.
4. Confirm tracking is set up before ads go live
Conversion tracking on Google Ads, the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics 4 should be in place before any budget is spent. Ask who will own these accounts. You should. If the agency builds everything inside accounts only they control, you lose your data the day you part ways.
5. Find out who will actually do the work
The person who pitches is not always the person who runs your campaigns. Ask who will manage your account day to day, what their experience is, and how often you will speak to them.
6. Verify the company is properly licensed
Every agency operating in the UAE needs a valid trade licence from a mainland or free zone authority that covers marketing or advertising activities. Asking for the licence number is a normal request, and a legitimate agency will share it without hesitation.
7. Read the contract terms carefully
Check the minimum term, the notice period, what happens to your ad accounts, website files and content if you leave, and whether ad spend is billed separately from management fees. Clear terms protect both sides.
Red flags to watch for
- Guaranteed first-page rankings or guaranteed results by a fixed date
- No access to your own ad accounts or analytics
- Reports that only show reach, likes and impressions
- Long lock-in contracts before any results are shown
- Pricing that is not explained in AED with ad spend separated
The short version
Pick the agency that asks the most questions about your business, shows you exactly how results will be measured, keeps you in control of your accounts, and can prove it is licensed. Everything else is easier to judge once those four are in place.
